How To Care For Your
Uniform |
| |
|
Hose |
| |
Make sure your hose are
clean and have no runs. Wash them in the
washing machine, gentle cycle, with a
mild detergent like "Ivory Snow" or "Dreft"
that contains no bleach. Hang them
out to air dry. If you get runs or snags in them you will need to
purchase new ones so take car of them. |
|
Batons |
| |
Your
baton ball and tip should be kept clean and
sparkling white. A good scrubbing with a scrub pad and dish soap
will work. If you have stains on them then try using scouring powder or
dishwasher soap to get them white. If you have stains that are stubborn
then soak them for a minute in 2 cups of hot water mixed with 1/8
cup of "Ultra Clorox Splashless Bleach" (this bleach is less yellowing)
and then scrub them and rinse off. Do not use bleach unless all else
fails because over time the ends will yellow. If you have any sticky
tape residue on the bar of the baton “Goo Off” works great on it.

Uniform and
Gloves |
| |
Do not dry clean the uniforms.
Dry cleaning will remove the color off the sequins. Clean the uniform
only occasionally especially after a hot sweaty parade or at the end of
the season. Hand wash the uniform and gloves with a mild
detergent like "Dreft" or "Ivory Snow" that contains
no bleach. Do not rub or ring the uniforms
or gloves for this will rub the color off the sequins. Just swish them
around in the water let soak a few minutes and lay them on a towel then
roll the towel up and squeeze it out. Lay out flat to dry. If your
uniform is ever wet due to rain or sweat let it air dry before putting
it away otherwise it may get musty and the color will come off the
sequins.
